Postseason action starts soon

The road to state for spring sports kicks off this week.
Postseason soccer assignments for both boys and girls have not been released yet.

Track
The Northeast Iowa Conference meet will be hosted by Decorah Thursday, May 6, beginning at 5 p.m.
The state qualifying meet is Thursday, May 13, beginning at 4 p.m.
Decorah is in Class 3A and will participate at Independence. Other teams there include Center Point-Urbana, Charles City, Epworth (Western Dubuque), Independence, Vinton-Shellsburg, Waverly-Shell Rock and West Delaware.
South Winn and Turkey Valley will both be at the Upper Iowa Conference meet Thursday, May 6, at North Fayette Valley, beginning at 4 p.m.
The Warriors and Trojans will also be at the same state-qualifying meet at Edgewood-Colesburg Thursday, May 13, at 4 p.m. Along with SW and TV, schools battling for the right to compete at state include Central Elkader, Clayton Ridge, East Buchanan, Easton Valley, Ed-Co, Kee High, Maquoketa Valley, Marquette Catholic, MFL MarMac, Midland, Prince of Peace Prep and Starmont.

Boys’ golf
The Decorah boys’ golf team will tee-off at the Northeast Iowa Conference meet Monday, May 17, at Waverly Municipal Golf Course at 10 a.m.
South Winn and Turkey Valley are at South Winn Golf and Country Club for the conference meet Monday, May 10, at 9 a.m.
Sectionals are Friday, May 14, at 10 a.m., regardless of class. Teams and individuals advancing from sectionals move on to the district meet Friday, May 21, at 10 a.m.
Decorah is in Class 3A. The Vikes will be at Pin Oak Links in Manchester for the sectional meet. Other teams there are Charles City, Clear Lake, Crestwood, Hampton-Dumont, Independence, Waverly-Shell Rock and West Delaware. Those advancing from Manchester and from the Gilbert sectionals will play at Waverly-Shell Rock Municipal Golf Course in Waverly for the district meet.
South Winn and Turkey Valley will be in Class 1A, playing at Silver Springs Golf Course in Ossian, hosted by the Warriors, for the sectional meet. Other teams there are Central Elkader, Edgewood-Colesburg, Starmont, Wapsie Valley and West Central. Teams and individuals from South Winn, Nashua-Plainfield, East Buchanan and Midland will be at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls for the district meet.

Girls’ golf
Decorah girls are at the Northeast Iowa Conference meet Thursday, May 13, at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club at 10 a.m.
South Winn and Turkey Valley will compete in the Upper Iowa Conference meet Tuesday, May 11, at 9 a.m., at the Tri City Golf Club near Luana.

Girls’ tennis
Decorah will be on the courts for conference action Saturday, April 30, in Waverly at 9 a.m. Team regional competition will begin Saturday, May 15, at 9 a.m., while the singles and doubles regional meet will take place Wednesday, May 19, at 9 a.m. As of press time locations have not been announced for the postseason.

Boys’ tennis
The Vikings will host the conference tennis tournament at Luther College Monday, May 3, at 9 a.m.
The boys’ district tennis tournament is Wednesday, May 12, at 8 a.m. Decorah, in Class 1A, will be at Waverly-Shell Rock.
Other teams there are Aplington-Parkersburg, Clear Lake, Columbus Catholic, Hampton-Dumont, Oelwein, Union (LaPorte City) and Waverly-Shell Rock.
The singles and doubles state tournament are slated for May 28-29.
