Sharon Busch, 63, of Festina, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wis. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, with Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Organist is Jeanette Dietzenbach. Soloist is Dan Silhacek. The Our Lady of Seven Dolors Choir will sing. Hymns are “Here I am, Lord,” “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings,” “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.” Lectors are Judy Busch and Jennifer Janvrin. Offertory gift bearers are Lyndsey Anderson and Terri Busch. Casket bearers are Chris Busch Alex Baird, Larry Witzel, Mark Larson, Doug Pilkington and Kevin Rasmussen. Internment is at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery, Festina. Arrangements are being handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.
Sharon Jeanne (Shorey) Busch was born March 6, 1955, in Algona. She graduated from Luverne High School in Luverne. After high school Sharon spent two years at NIACC in Mason City and then attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a bachelor degree in home economics education. While at Iowa State she met Bob Busch and they were later married June 25, 1977, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina. Together they had three children: Scott, Michelle and Travis. Sharon and Bob farmed and raised their children near Festina on Bob’s family farm as third-generation farmers. Sharon also worked many different jobs throughout the years but her favorite pastime was writing a column for the Calmar Courier for 12 years, called “Neighbor to Neighbor.” She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and most of all spending time with her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Scott Busch, Cedar Falls; Michelle (Jason) Landa, Charlotte; and Travis Busch, Ankeny; grandchildren: Gabriel, Adelaide and Reagan Landa; brothers, LeRoy (Susan) Witzel, Humboldt and Gaylen (Barb) Witzel, Cedar Falls; sister, Zelda (Marlyn) Larson, Ankeny; mother-in-law, Adalene Busch; sisters-in-law, Donna (Dennis) Anderson, Hager City, Wis. and Sheila (Wayne) Baird, Denver; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Judy) Busch, Ossian and Loren (Colleen) Busch, Burr Oak; along with many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mabel (Lacour) Shorey; father-in-law, Hubert Busch; niece, Angela (Larson) Pilkington; nephew, Ben Baird.
