Pat (Cool) Sersland, 91, passed away in her home, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Feb. 1, 2015. A graveside service at Fir Conway Lutheran Cemetery was Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m.

Pat was born May 12, 1923, in Cedar Falls. She graduated from Decorah High School. She married Arnold Sersland in 1943. After he was discharged from the Navy they lived in Ames until Arnold graduated. After living in several locations on the West coast they settled outside of Mt. Vernon in 1959. Pat loved crafts, sewing, quilting, knitting and making dolls. She was eager to show her finished product to all who stopped by to visit and often gave them one. Pat enjoyed baking and became an expert at making Norwegian delicacies. She was feisty, humorous and spoke loudly telling it like it was. Then she’d hit you up for a hug. Pat walked her own path and did it her way, acquiring many great friends with whom she enjoyed conversing and visiting.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Claudia; sister-in-law, Diane Sersland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Claud Cool; her husband, Arnold and his brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be given to Stanwood Community and Senior Center, 7430 – 276th St. NW, Stanwood, WA   98292.  Please include “Memorial for Pat Sersland” in the memo line.
