Pamela Bronner

Pamela C. Bronner passed away at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis., on Aug. 11, 2022.

Pam was born on June 3, 1950, at the Cresco Hospital in Cresco, Iowa, to Clarence Delbert Bronner and Grace Marie (Larsen) Bronner. She grew up on a farm northwest of Cresco. Pam had many fond memories of her dad especially how he would dance and sing to her when they were in the barn together milking cows. She remembered with fondness going to swap meets with her mom.

Pam lived most of her life in rural Cresco where she attended country school and was confirmed at the Zion United Methodist Church near her home. At about the age of 18 she rented a small place near her parent’s farm and lived there several years. Pam later moved to the Decorah area.

Pam was a person of diverse talents. During her lifetime sheworked at a variety of occupations. She worked at Peter Produce in Lime Springs in the egg division: candling, packing, boiling, and peeling hard-boiled eggs for resale. She was also employed in Harmony, Minn., at a chicken processing plant. Pam worked for the Humane Society as the Animal Control Officer for Harmony, Minn., as well as Lime Springs and Cresco.

Children in Howard County may remember her, Pam drove school bus for the Howard-Winneshiek School District for eight and a half years. Pam loved most animals but had a special affinity for horses; she did not have that same love for cows. Pam was an accomplished horsewoman and horse trainer. She trained her riding horses to bow down on their front legs to make it easier for the rider to get on. Pam had many pets through the years, befriending fawns, raccoons, rabbits, goats, poultry, and at least one skunk. In contrast to her tomboy character, she loved making jewelry, selling some of her work at swap meets and flea markets.

She is survived by a sister, Cindy Bronner of Solon; a brother, Mark Bronner of Cresco; a foster brother Dan Schwasinger of West Allis, Wis.; a nephew, Derek Bronner; a grand-niece Natalie Bronner; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kathy Bronner.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, northwest of Cresco, on 25th Street, with interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Cedar Hill Cemetery, receivable at 21202 25th Street, Cresco, Iowa 52136.
