Nita Albertson

Nita Albertson, 78, of Calmar, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah. Services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at Stone Ridge Community Church in Decorah, with Pastor Ed Krawczyk officiating. Accompanist was Kristie Roeder. Vocal leaders were Don Manderfield and Mary Marx. Hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Grandma’s Gone to Heaven” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Casket bearers were Kevin Andera, Eric Albertson, Logan Einck, Andy Lensing, Brian Lensch and Jamie Wemark. Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery in Ridgeway. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.

Nita Mae (Nelson) Albertson was born Aug. 3, 1938, the daughter of Kermit and Gertrude (Nath) Nelson in Riceville. Nita attended rural country schools and graduated from Riceville High School in 1956. She was active in 4-H and raised calves on the family farm to enter in the fair. She worked as a telephone operator in Decorah and also at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Nita was united in marriage to Ronald Albertson Sept. 21, 1958, in Riceville. Together they farmed north of Spillville. She was an active farm wife and loved all aspects of farming. She enjoyed cooking, making cakes, sewing, embroidering and going fishing. Nita also liked to help at polling. Nita enjoyed taking many bus trips with the farm wives from Winneshiek Coop. She also enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair with her sister, Marlene and niece, Barbara. Nita was a member of the Stone Ridge Community Church in Decorah.

Nita is survived by her husband, Ronald Albertson, Calmar; one son, Duane (Beth) Albertson, Calmar; three grandchildren: Rachael (Kevin) Andera, Calmar, Sara (Logan) Einck, Festina and Eric (Alicia Otto) Albertson, Calmar; five great-grandchildren: Hayden, Landon and Nolan Andera; Jackson Einck and Canaan Albertson; one sister, Marlene (Roger) Berg, Decorah; one brother, Curtis Nelson, Riceville; one brother-in-law, Louis (Norma) Albertson, Calmar; two sisters-in-law, Debra (Tom) Lensch, Decorahand Jane Albertson, Rochester, Minn.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Gertrude (Nath) Nelson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orlando and Florence Albertson; two brothers-in-law, Orlando Parnell Albertson and Roger (Betty) Albertson.
