Marilyn Rima

Marilyn Rima, age 93, of Decorah, passed away on Aug. 27, 2023, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, following a short illness.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.

Marilyn Elaine (Bushman/Rothmeyer) Rima was born on April 29, 1930, the daughter of Peter and Martha (Sand) Bushman in Randalia. Marilyn was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church parish in Decorah. Marilyn enjoyed her family, crocheting and is proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn married Gregory H. Rothmeyer on June 17, 1947, and to this marriage they were blessed with 10 children which survive her:  Gary (Connie) Rothmeyer of Ossian, Janice (Larry) Lensch of Gilbert, Ariz., Bonnie Wenthold of Decorah, Mike (Lyn) Rothmeyer of Prior Lake, Minn., Pat (Rich) Phillips of Muscatine, Eileen (Jim/JB) Blong of Calmar, Dawn Severson of Calmar, Eleane Hageman of Clermont, Marcia (Kenny) Lembke of Decorah, and Paula Strand of Trempealeau, Wis. Marilyn later married Earl Rima of Decorah, on Jan. 4, 1984. She is also survived by his children.

Along with Marilyn’s children and stepchildren she is survived by 30 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and siblings: Diane Einck, Eleane Wokwicz, and Eileen Fogarty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Rima. Grandson: Korey Rothmeyer. Son-in-law: Loren Wenthold. Siblings: Gerald Bushman and Sharlene Rose. Brothers-in-law: Bernard Rose, Paul Wokwicz and Robert Einck.
