JOANNE RONEY, (MRS. ROBERT) 81, of Decorah, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wis. Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, with Rev. Dave Sorenson and Rev. Charis Combs-Lay presiding. Burial is in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah and after 10 a.m. at the church Wednesday morning. Joanne’s survivors include her seven children: William “Bill” (Patricia) Roney, Decorah; David (Mary) Roney, Frankville; Daryl (Wendy) Roney, Decorah; Jeff (Doreen) Roney, Decorah; Vicki (Robert) Kelly, Decorah; Dan Roney, Decorah and Mike (Lisa) Roney, Decorah; 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; Joanne’s sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jeanette (Gordon) Harms, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Donald (Arlene) Roney, Fort Collins, Colo.; Arlin (Pat) Roney, Moncks Corner, S.C.; Duane (Linda) Roney, Charles City and Dale (Dawn) Roney, Waukon; and Trudy Barrett, Fort Collins, Colo.; along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; Bob’s two aunts, Margaret “Peggy” Wikan, Waukon and Audrey Smock, San Diego, Calif.; and Ardis Klotzbach, Decorah. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nettie Kimber; her husband, Robert “Bob” Roney, Nov. 13, 2007; her grandson, Robert Roney, May 26, 2015; brother, Merlin Kimber; two sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Martin and Vivian (Robert) Broghammer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Angeline Roney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ruth (Jim) Farley, Elaine (Dick) Kessler, John Barrett and Bernard Gacke.
