Gloria Mashek

Gloria Mashek, age 74, of Bettendorf, formerly of Spillville, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with Rev. Robert Gross presiding.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Everyone attending is asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Gloria Jean Mashek was born on January 2, 1947 the daughter of George and Evelyn (Strnad) Mashek in Decorah. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1965.  Gloria worked in Rock Island, Illinois at the Arsenal Dept. of the Army as a contract administrator for over thirty years.  From 1987 to 1990 she worked for them in Hawaii.  Gloria enjoyed traveling and after Dave and Sharon retired, they visited several places of interest.  Only two states were left on her bucket list.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, making greeting cards, dish rags and scrubbies. 

Gloria is survived by brother: Dave (Sharon) Mashek, Spillville, IA.  Nephew: Matthew Mashek and his two daughters: Miranda and Mirrisa all of Jesup, IA.  Grandniece: Amanda Ryherd, Mitchell, SD. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: George (1984) and Evelyn (2008) Mashek.  Brother and sister-in-law: James (Mary) Mashek.  Nephew: Troy David Mashek.  Niece: Janice Mashek.  Great niece: Mercedes Mashek.
