Cletus Leonard Houdek was born July 20, 1951, to Leo and Frances Houdek in Decorah. Clete graduated from DeSales High School and Luther College. His career was in banking and auditing. He was married to Ann Cobbs for 32 years. Their children are John, James and Barabra. Clete married Susan Clark; Susan passed away in 2015.
Clete learned to appreciate nature from his father, a farmer. He developed an interest in business from his mother, a paralegal. He enjoyed travel near and far, and brought back souvenirs, large and small. Camping trips were a means to see many of the states. He loved music, and led church services by voice and guitar for decades. He enjoyed identifying and photographing birds, making ceramics, raising cattle and other animals and experiencing diverse cultures.
Clete passed into final peace Feb. 28, 2017. Burial is Nov. 4, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the St. Benedict cemetery.
