Christine Rausch, 93, of Fort Atkinson, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, with Rev. Kyle Digmann officiating. Organist is Jeanette Dietzenbach. Soloist is Dan Silhacek. Hymns are “Be Not Afraid,” “Only a Shadow,” “Amazing Grace, “Goin Home” and “How Great Thou Art.” The St. John’s Choir will also sing. Lector is Clark Gerleman. Mass servers are Larry Riha and Jack Herold. Offertory gift bearers are Mary, John and Jason. Eucharistic ministers are Ann Herold, Ron Franzen, Joan Swestka and Craig Hosting. Casket bearers are Linus Kuboushek, Karen Minger, Keith Kuboushek, Jane Tarraf, Jerry Meyer and Jeremy Rausch. Interment is at St. John’s Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson. Arrangements are being handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, Fort Atkinson.

Christine Lydia (Kuboushek) Rausch was born Aug. 3, 1924, on a farm north of Conover, the daughter of Albert and Christina (Luzum) Kuboushek. Christine attended country school near her home and Calmar High School. Christine married Herbert Rausch Dec. 27, 1945, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. Christine was a housewife and, along with her husband, they ran the Rausch Mobile Home Court in Fort Atkinson. Christine enjoyed mowing the lawn, gardening, bowling, watching the Cubs play and putting puzzles together. Christine was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson and had served as treasurer of the Ladies Guild.

Christine is survived by her two children, Mary J. (Steve) Chamberlin, Cedar Rapidsand John M. (Carla) Rausch, Waucoma; two grandsons, Jason (Jessica) Rausch, Omaha, Neb. and Jeremy (Toni) Rausch, North Liberty; five great-grandchildren: Madison and Colton Rausch, Jacob, Myah and Jaxson Rausch; three sisters-in-law, Verena (James) Croatt, West Union, Laura Kuboushek, Calmar and Darlys Rausch, Fort Atkinson; along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Rausch, Nov. 28, 2016; parents, Albert and Christina (Luzum) Kuboushek; brothers, Raymond (Delores) and Robert Kuboushek; sisters: Wilma (Rudy) Gerleman, Mildred (Ed) Silhacek, Viola (Frank) Meyer, Marcella (Ted) Schmitt and a sister in infancy; father and mother-in-law, Hugo and Barbara (Hackman) Rausch; brothers-in-law: Alex (Loretta) Rausch, Donald Rausch and Carl (Helen) Rausch; sister-in-law, Hermina (Arnold) Boeding.
