Audrey Rue

Audrey Rue, 93, of Ridgeway, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at her home in Ridgeway. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery in Ridgeway. Visitation was 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, with a scripture service at 5 p.m. Visitation continued an hour prior to the time of service Monday at the church.

Audrey Rue was born May 8, 1921, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Noecker) Kelley in Decorah. After graduating high school Audrey went on to teach country school. In her younger days she liked dancing at the Inwood Ballroom in Spillville and Matter’s Ballroom in Decorah. Audrey was a very social person who enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning with her friends, volunteering at Ridgeway Elementary, birthday club, and her yearly trip to Las Vegas. She w always was laughing and having a good time when around family and friends. Most of all Audrey adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took every opportunity to brag about them, and loved being a part of their lives.

Audrey is survived by her children: Linda Murphy of Waterloo, Harold (Heidi) Rue of Ridgeway and Kelvin (Donna) Rue of Ridgeway; grandchildren: Jason (Christina) Murphy, Travis Rue, Tyler Rue, Kelly Rue and Riley Rue; great-grandchildren: Rhein Murphy, Rhett Murphy and Rhevl Murphy; sister, Phyllis (Dwayne) Hauber of Ridgeway; and sister-in-law, Helen Kelley of Waukon.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Alton, in 2002, and brothers Glenn Kelley and Mark Kelley.
