Reports from the Decorah Police

Decorah Police Officers responded to a 911 call to 905 Short Street (Kwik Star) in Decorah on Jan. 20 at 2:15 a.m. Upon their arrival, they spoke with employees and the suspect. An investigation was conducted. Subsequently, Sarah Lynn Lange, 34, of West Union was placed under arrest for public intox and disorderly conduct.

Decorah Police Officers conducted a traffic stop Jan. 25 at approximately 9:28 p.m. on a black vehicle with no plates near the intersection of Old Stage Road and Highway 9. An investigation was conducted. Subsequently, Xavier David Chloupek, 20, of Spring Grove, Minn., was placed under arrest for a violation of Iowa Code Chapter 204.14A – inhalation hemp, a serious misdemeanor. Decorah Police Department was assisted in this incident by the Iowa State Patrol, Winneshiek County Dispatch, and Winneshiek County Jail staff.

A 911 call was received in the area of the North Mill Street Apartments on Jan. 25 at approximately 10:41 p.m. The caller advised he had been struck in the face with a coffee pot and was bleeding. The caller was seen by EMS, and an investigation into the incident was executed by Decorah Police officers. The victim was assaulted during a card game at a residence at 119 North Mill Street. The suspect, Elijah Gallegos, was arrested on charges of willful injury causing serious bodily injury, a Class C felony, and harassment, 1st degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. Decorah Police were assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
