Decorah Community School District (DCSD) Superintendent Mark Lane has accepted the superintendent position at Woodward-Granger School District in central Iowa. Lane had announced last November that he was resigning the Decorah post he had held since 2019 to move closer to family.

According to the Woodward-Granger District, Lane was one of three finalists interviewed for the superintendent position last Monday, May 23. Prior to taking the DCSD job, he was the principal and associate superintendent of the Urbandale School District.

Earlier this year the DCSD Board of Education named Dr. Tim Cronin as the local district’s next superintendent. Since 2013, Dr. Cronin has served as superintendent of the Central City CSD, which has had a “shared superintendent” arrangement with nearby Dunkerton CSD for the past two years. He will begin the job in Decorah on July 1.
