Decorah High School groups coordinate food pantry drive

The Decorah FFA and National Honor Society joined forces to organize a school-wide “food” drive to help community members in need. Students and staff donated money instead of collecting food items, knowing that a financial contribution would afford more buying power for items in demand.

The high school students and staff donated $2,274 to the Decorah Community Food Pantry.

“We always appreciate the generosity of students, staff, and even family members during this annual event,” shared Joni Bruvold, FFA advisor and Liz Fox, National Honor Society Advisor.

“I am happy to say that as a school and community, we did an amazing job coming together and donating to those less fortunate than ourselves. The total we collected equates to a meal-buying power of 22,740. This is a great tradition, and I hope we can keep it going in future years,” stated Logan Frye, FFA Food Drive Committee member.
