The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that the agency’s Name a Snowplow contest returned for a second year in January of this year. After 22,000 name ideas and 60,000 votes, it’s official: Plowy McPlowFace has eight new friends. One new name will be assigned to each of MnDOT’s eight districts. The newly named trucks will join last years’ favorites in the fleet.
Betty Whiteout had 40,024 votes, Ctrl Salt Delete had 21,372 votes, The Big Leplowski had 17,478 votes, Plowasaurus Rex had 13,209 votes, Scoop Dogg had 13,144 votes, Blizzard of Oz had 12,742 votes, No More Mr. Ice Guy had 11,198 votes and Edward Blizzardhands, which will be serving Minnesota District 6, including Fillmore and Houston counties, had 10,664 votes.
Individuals were able to vote for up to eight choices. There were a total of 59,655 unique voters in this year’s contest. Watch for these winners on the road this winter, a ‘cool’ bit of fun to look forward to as the Driftless experienced higher than average temperatures last week.
