K9 program receives donation

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office recently ceived a $650 donation for the K9 program from a recent kayak raffle held Aug. 26 at Bluffton Resort & Bar.

Window air conditioning units have been installed at two Decorah schools

In a letter to parents of the Decorah Community School District (DCSD) last week, DCSD Superintendent Tim Cronin reported window air conditioners were installed in classrooms at John Cline Elementary School and West Side Early Childhood Center.

DHS ranked #2 high school in Iowa

For the third year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Decorah High School as the second-best high school across Iowa. This marks the fifth consecutive year DHS was listed in the top two spots.

Luther College recently announced Audrey Fashimpaur, class of 2023, completed the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Spark program – a competitive and intensive 8-week online course where Fashimpaur was immersed in Chinese language and culture to learn Mandarin.

Public input sought on elimination of Iowa boards, commissions

Together with the Boards and Commissions Review Committee, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is calling for public input on proposed recommendations to reform Iowa’s board and commissions. More than 70 boards and commissions could be eliminated, and many others merged, consolidated and reorganized later this fall.
