USDA to hire climate change fellows in Iowa

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director in Iowa Theresa Greenfield recently announced the Agency is hiring two Climate Change Fellows in Iowa to help with the record number of applications from farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses seeking funding for clean energy projects under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). The USDA is hiring a total of 40 Climate Change Fellows nationwide.

January library book discussions announced

Law enforcement officials urge caution

It’s hard to have a happy holiday if you’re arrested for drunk driving. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is teaming up with law enforcement across Iowa to urge drivers to think twice before drinking and driving. December 15 – January 1, 2024, drivers will see officers working on a special high-visibility enforcement campaign to spread the message about the dangers of drunk driving.

Decorah Schools comply with new legislation

In May of 2023 the Iowa Legislature passed Senate File 496 which, in part, requires all public school libraries in Iowa to remove any books with a drawing or written description of a sex act. School Districts have been working diligently to comply with the legislation by the mid-January implementation date.

‘Christmas at Luther’ broadcasts continue

While Luther College performers have hung up their robes for 2023, that doesn’t mean that Christmas at Luther is over. Video on Demand tickets for “Love, the Rose, Is on the Way,” are available to purchase online at tickets.luther.edu. Audiences can view the entire performance through Jan. 2 through VOD, while selections from Christmas at Luther will also be broadcast on radio and television stations this month.
