Luther to host bystander intervention workshop

Luther College will host a Green Dot Bystander Intervention Workshop Thursday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Peace Dining Room on the second floor of Dahl Centennial Union. The workshop is open to all Decorah area community members to learn strategies for preventing interpersonal violence in the community.

Decorah School Board considers new athletic conference affiliation

Decoah Community School District (DCSD) Board of Directors met with administrators Wednesday night to discuss Northeast Iowa Athletic Conference (NEIC) realignments and possible new conference affiliation. Following a lengthy debate, the Board voted unanimously to request a seat at the table in discussions with another area conference, in the event the NEIC dissolves. A letter of inquiry and exploration is being drafted to the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC).

Black History Month observances slated Luther

Luther College invites everyone to recognize and celebrate Black History Month this February with a series of events on campus. The month will include a jazz performance of one of Langston Hughes’s poems, film screenings and a distinguished lecture. The events are open to the public.

Winneshiek County earns “Growing Together Iowa” mini grant

In the midst of record-setting food pantry usage throughout the state, Growing Together Mini-Grants will provide fresh produce and nutrition education to pantries in 2024 through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s SNAP-Education program. Winneshiek County was on the list of 32 grant recipients from across the state.
